Jesus is God in the flesh
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. Colossians 2:9
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. Hebrews 1:3a
For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he [Jesus] was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. John 5:18
Jesus claimed to be God, those who followed him believed he was God, and those opposed to him understood that he was making that claim.
Jesus is perfectly righteous
You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead Acts 3:14-15
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus not only perfectly revealed God to us; He also kept God's requirements perfectly.
Jesus is the means through whom we can overcome the obstacle to knowing God
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. 1 Peter 3:18
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
In Jesus, God took the initiative to overcome the obstacle between us and him. Jesus took our place in satisfying God's righteous demands. If you want to have eternal life and know God, we must respond to his invitation to trust him.
Jesus invites our response
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified [declared righteous], and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:30-31
