DEACONS
Deacons are entrusted with overseeing and nurturing the Care Ministries of Faith Bible Church, including administering the Benevolence Fund. They partner with the Elders in their shepherding role for FBC families and individuals, with a focus on care ministry. FBC is blessed with many Care Ministries today. Where care needs among the fellowship can be met through existing ministries (such as Servant’s Kitchen, Funeral Luncheons, and Care Baskets, which are under the auspices of Women’s Ministries), the Deacons nurture them and make appropriate referrals to them. Deacons then serve as a focal point for any unmet care needs.
The Office of Deacon was introduced to FBC in 2002. A Deacon is a man who meets the qualifications presented in 1 Timothy 3:8-13, participates in the fellowship of FBC, and affirms the Doctrinal Statement and the Covenant of Fellowship. If a Deacon is married, his wife must meet the qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:11 and partner with her husband in this ministry.
In 2010 our Deacons are: Dave Anderson, Pete Bambey, Chris Beck (Chairman), Jon Beers, Todd Geist, Don Gilson, Mike Pegram, Jeremy Pereira, and Dave Winebrenner.
ELDERS
The Board of Elders is the chief executive body of the church, responsible for the spiritual life of the fellowship and the conduct of its business. The government of the church, the planning and supervision of its work, the management and control of its property (real and personal), and spiritual discipline of the fellowship is vested in the Board of Elders. All ministries, agencies, committees, and other boards remain under the jurisdiction of the Board of Elders.
The Senior Pastor serves on the Board without term. All other Elders are appointed to a term of up to three years (may fulfill a partial term and also serve a full term) but may serve no more than five years continuously. Elders not on "active duty" but in good standing at FBC are eligible to serve as Advisory Council members.
We believe that our Elder-led government is most faithful to the church governments described in the New Testament, and that it has worked well for our church. Men who exhibit the qualities described in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9, and who have a record of ministry at FBC, are invited to consider service as Elder.
The Board of Elders usually meets on the first and third Monday evenings of each month and at other times as needed. In 2010 our elders are: Mark Beadle, Charley Eberhard, Tom Fairweather, Ken Hastings, Tim Jones, Brad Lewis, Wayne Lowe, Steve Mary, Rich Miklautsch, Dan Price (Chairman), Steve Simpson, Steve Stuk, Henry van den Berg, and Steve Williams.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee supervises the handling of all FBC monies -- collecting and disbursing funds, keeping related books and records, executing contracts, preparing the annual budget, and auditing. The Finance Committee is composed of two Elders (one of whom is the Chair of the Finance Commission of the Board of Elders), a Trustee, and the Church Treasurer. Each member serves for a renewable term of one year.
FBC has a history of excellent financial accountability and responsibility. A key part of this is the open annual calendar-year budget -- derived from budget requests by staff, boards, and ministry heads; approved by the Board of Elders; included in the annual report; shared with the congregation in topline fashion throughout the year; and available for legitimate inquiry at all times.
TRUSTEES
The Board of Trustees at Faith Bible Church serve as custodians for the building and grounds. This includes routine maintenance and emergency repairs.
The Trustees also handle building configuration changes for special events. If you are planning a special event please remember to submit a Building Use Request Form. This allows you to reserve the room and to specify the room setup(s) you desire. Forms are available in the church office or on the Resources page of our web site.
The Board of Trustees meets on the first Thursday of each month. Emergency meetings are held on an as-needed basis. In 2010 our Trustees are: Brad Botkin, Craig Fairweather, Bo Gill, Jason Hartman, Dave Huff, Jeff Jones, Ben Lewis, Matthew Robbins, Tom Rockwood, Ron Ruppersburg, and Bryan Skoog.
